I'm Back

This is what we had happen to us overnight back in the middle of December. I don't remember the exact date and I probably should because this doesn't happen too often in this part of Texas. Pardon the bad picture, but it was almost midnight when I took it and the flash wasn't all that strong. It was a good couple of inches of nice snow, though, and needed to be documented for posterity.

I know, I've been away from this blog for much too long, but I'm going to try to remedy that. I can't knit and crochet like I used to, but I sure have been making up for it with my sewing lately. I'm making charity quilts for Cheyenne River Reservation, and quite a few things for my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well. The best part of it is that I'm having a lot of fun in the process. I just love dragging out all the pretty fabrics and making something. Of course, part of the process is that I have to put them away again afterward, but I'm getting better about that. Well a little bit better at that. Nobody's perfect, you know.

I'm going to take some pictures of recent things I've made and post them here for everyone to see. Hope you enjoy seeing them almost as much as I did making them.

December 2006 ??????

Goodness, I knew that I'd been busy, but didn't think that I'd been THAT busy. It's been almost a whole year since I've put anything here. OK I'll make a promist that I'll get some photos done soon and put on here so you can see what I've been doing lately. Several quilts and TONS of knitting and a little dab of crocheting.

I've been BUSY around here lately

I found a quilt pattern online that I really liked called "Kaliedoscope" and I just HAD to make it. Only trouble was, it was paper pieced and I haven't done that for a long time. It didn't take long to get back in the swing of things, though, as these photos will show. First is the detail on the lighter of the start, and the secone is the two types of stars that appear when I use a lighter fabric to emphasize them -- one light and one dark. Both are rather distinctive I think, and the truth of the matter is that I'm a lot better quilter than I am photographer. I'll try to get some better pictures when the weather warms up a bit.

Hubby's Doctor Visit

Today, hubby had a regular doctor visit. I had encouraged this because he's been complaining about several things recently, and felt like he would feel better once he heard the doctor tell him what I've been telling him for months -- he's getting older and things get tired quicker than they used to. He had several tests run while the doctor was seeing him, and had a very good exam from the doctor himself. *I* was the one that had to tell the doctor what he has been telling me for a while now, and he checked out each complaint as best he could. His conclusion - - Hubby is getting older and things get tired quicker than they used to. Also, he may have been having some instances of low sugar levels occasionally, and that would explain a couple of dizzy spells and also some of his memory loss. Low sugar levels make you lose brain cells. QUICK -- get the chocolate. I don't have any brain cells to spare. Hubby has a strong heart and good blood circulation as well as pinpoint blood pressure for his age and weight. His sugar is under control really well, and he should have a lot of good years left. That was a real relief to have the doctor say that instead of me assuring him that all was well. Like hubby said on the way home after the appointment, "He went to school a long time to learn what he knows." My reply: "Yes, but I learned all I know at the school of hard knocks." There were a lot of times when our children were small that we couldn't afford to go to the doctor for every little thing and I had to dig into my old home remedies to keep them healthy. They all grew up healthy and strong, so I must have learned something along the way. It's good to know that he'll be around a while longer. I've kind of gotten used to having him and his careing ways close to me.

I think I solved the problem with pictures

I got to looking around at the different commands on the new blog and found a way to get to the posting screen with the icons that I need on this one to post pictures. Here's a try to see if this works:

Well, now, that worked just right. Above are the 9 pairs of hand knit mittens that I made as well as the 54 pairs of sewn fleece mittens.

Gee, it feels like I have a brand new toy now that this one can actually have pictures on it like the other one. I suppose I'll have to work twice as hard now to get things posted in a timely manner to both pages.

Hi everyone,

I've had to give up this blog because there just isn't a way to add pictures to it. It'll just sit here until I can get it figured out or blogger will delete it after it isn't attended to for a length of time. I've started a new blog with this name:

Wahnoma-62_Knitter

I hope you will visit me there and see the pictures that I couldn't post to this one. Thanks to my regular visitors -- Mariella and Anami. See you on the other blog so I can share my pictures with you and everyone else.

WE HAVE MITTEN

Finished the first mitten of the first pair for my contribution to my charity group's October offering, and was going to put a picture of it here -- but I can't figure out how to put a picture here yet. BUMMER ! ! !

Used a unique pattern written by one of the group members for a mitten knit sideways, and it came out quite nice. These sideways mittens are really good because they fit several sizes due to the garter stitch and the stretchability of that fabric when it's used. I really need to make some smaller ones, though, as this one that finished (and the mate that's almost finished) are large enough for my big old hands. Oh well, hands come in all sizes, and they all need to be kept warm in the winter. I think what I did was use the pattern for the adult size and I need to go get the pattern for the child size.

Yes, I'll put pictures here as soon as I can figure out how to post them.
